I appreciate you taking the time to make this write up @Orageux101. It’s brought a new view/lense to my attention.
To respect the feedback given I do have thoughts written up on each point made. if anyone in the community would like a deeper breakdown on any topic Orageux mentioned please let me know.
Here’s a summary of the feedback I received from the community throughout this proposal (I’ll be implementing your feedback should the program get approved):
No schilling missions period
No SHD payout rewards outside of the very very top highest quality contributors
Automate as much as possible and make sure human hours don’t add up
Handbook points are just internal points to track quality warriors = no shd earned based on these points
Program should set expectations with community & core team that the main KPIs will be high quality content & contributors (not just number of members in program)
Future proposals will clearly layout non-monetary rewards
Thank you all for the feedback and help in making this a success
From a marketing perspective we would digest this whole program into more details. Make an indepth analysis (swot, customer journey, goals etc)
What are the key goals that want to be achieved with this program? These goals should be formulated with the „SMART“ formula (at least thats what we call it in german )
S - specified
M - measurable
A - attractive
R - realistic
T - terminated
Examples:
Shade warrior member count will grow by 35% in the EU region by end of 2022.
Shade warriors will contribute a minimum of 10 translated shade articles in spanish by the end of 2022.
I could go on with a lot of other marketing points if needed. These are obviously goals but this way, if it gets approved the success of the program can be measured.
Rewards could then also be set in connection with these goals by adding several milestones.
Goal: 10 translated articles, for each article submitted with all correctly according to the requirements there will be a payout of x shade.
dig it, I look forward to being a part and adding value where and when I can <3. Is there a formal site for signing up to be in the ambassador program beyond this forum?
Well written proposal.
I think it is definitely valuable to get something if this nature off launched, and I like the trial focus of this.
Let’s see what works and how it goes.
We need some focused efforts in high quality content. And structure for funneling talents of community members to the proper channels. This seems like a good way to get it started.
Overall, the people mentioned in the outline seem like a good start up group. And I am happy to support it for the sake of getting momentum started.
@bigboy61 has the site built and ready for testing should this proposal be passed. Our team has built this at our own cost so we’re excited to get it live. Once it’s live we’ll be reaching out to the the SHD spartans to first test the site and then the community testnet group (if you’d like to test the site join the Discord and Testnet volunteer channel)
We chose to do the spartans first as they are a smaller group and then we’ll push the site with the larger “testnet volunteer” group. A great chance for the community to get further involved on early & exciting SHD moves.
Much appreciated AnewbiZ. I agree and I can see the community/team seem focused on making this start and stay 1)high quality contributions 2)content 3)contributors
My personal belief is that this focus will set the tone for a strong culture
After a meeting, discussing this proposal with core members, a list of questions requiring more details was put together. My responses to these questions are long so I’ve attached a Google Doc answering each. Please provide feedback and I’ll continue to keep this forum updated when progress arises.
After an overwhelming response in this forum, my DMs and meetings with the community it’s clear that the Shade community values high quality contributions and not a schilling program.
Being paid to complete any mission opens the door to low level contributors who don’t care about the protocol like all of us here do. My previous request for “shade warrior of the month” and “mission rewards” will not be given to warriors for completing missions.
The previously requested monetary rewards (shown below) will be repurposed to hire talent for building the sBadges & automate the mailchimp email that gives all resources to warriors.
Shade Warrior of the Month $300/month - ( 3 month total $900)
Shade Warrior Mission Rewards @ Moderators Discretion $465/month (3 month total $1,395)
The mod team currently pays for everything in this proposal out of pocket. We believe in paying to show the community action not ideas, prove ability and show our level of commitment.
A huge shout out to @bigboy61 for all the late nights he’s done building the warrior website. Thank you!
As always, I’m open to all thoughts & feedback as I want this to be for the community by the community and started off on the correct foot
Just signed up, excited to see how it develops! In case it’s not a known thing or others experience similar issues, I can’t currently access it on mobile, I had to go to www.shadewarriors.com on my desktop.
the UI looks good. looking forward to more details. I see a task submission area. Is there some things that need attention currently? I do like to write.
Hey @AnewbiZ, we were going for a very minimal site that serves only it’s designed function (submit the missions you’ve completed from the warrior handbook). No distractions or getting lost and I think @bigboy61 hit this goal beautifully. I’m glad you like it too.
You’ve always been active in the shade community and I appreciate it. We’re currently waiting on final feedback and if approved then everything will be fully opened. You’ll be able to complete missions from the handbook, submit them on the warrior website and earn your sBadges granting you access to rewards. (These rewards can be seen in my response above - Shade Warrior (Ambassador) Program & Website Grant Proposal - #49 by melch18)
As of now, nothing can be submitted as we wait for approval, and if granted, then we’ll start the testing phase. You’ll be notified if you want to get in on the testing phase
Hi Community - Unfortunately, this proposal didn’t pass the last approval from the grant fund & will not be built.
I want to thank everyone for contributing to this forum post. You helped make the first community grant proposal one of the most active forum posts!
Our team has felt a positive response from the community and we plan to submit this proposal to the community dao (once it’s operational), or find other ways to bring this sooner (stashh dynamic content )
Again, I say a big thank you to @bigboy61 who spent a massive amount of time dev opping for this Show him some love in the discord
Well dang. So if not this. What are we doing to move forward community activation in content?
For me, i have some content i plan on doing regardless of any program. Example. When bonds launch. I will do a video “how to” tutorial in laymens terms. It’s not so much about incentives to me, but having a program is important at the community level. Even if the incentives is more about roles. Badges. Honors, than financial.
Sorry to hear that, Melch. Unfortunate really… I know you put a lot of time and effort into this program and I really thought it was something that could benefit the entire Shade Protocol community.
With that said there are a lot of moving parts and hard decisions that must be made by the core team and I can understand why funding programs may not be their top priority, currently.
However, I hope as market conditions improve and SHD and SILK continue to gain adoption they will consider re-vamping this program as initially intended to build that core community many of us had in mind.
A great question AnewbiZ. As of now there is nothing moving community activation forward. Multiple community efforts were self funded and have had to change their roadmap. Unfortunately, my team and I knew there was always a chance of not receiving funding but it has taken a lot of wind out of our sails (for the moment). I will be focusing my efforts on the community dao as that’s currently the highest priority and should help activate more community efforts.
@CryptoChem0000 I agree 100% & I appreciate the kind words. I hope your future outlook is correct and I have ideas/plans for the warrior program that align w/ shade’s timeline/priorities.
I think this is still best accomplished with:
Non token rewards
sBadges granting access to intrinsic rewards (ex: 10 min private chat w/ Core team member)
sBadges earned through specific missions that are earned by directly interacting w/ the dapp
Timing and tokens seem to be the two biggest hurdles but maybe @FatherFlash can provide some more clarity to the community here? He was a major help throughout the process.
I want to make an official challenge to the community to figure a way forward that does make sense. As I mentioned above, this is a serious need.
And I find it a shame. And to clarify, it does not need to be financially incentivized. But something that actually activated community content. Badges, nfts, pts, one on one time with devs. Shoutouts.
The point is that a path forward is needed. The content cannot only fall on core team. As good asthe content is, their time is better spent on code and UI/UX.
